MMS

MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. It’s a technology that allows you to send and receive messages that include more than just text. You can send things like pictures, videos, audio clips, and even emojis.

MMS is essentially an extension of SMS (Short Message Service), which is limited to text messages of up to 160 characters. MMS messages can be much larger, typically up to 1 MB, although the exact size limit may vary depending on your carrier.

Here are some of the common uses of MMS:

  • Sending photos and videos to friends and family
  • Sharing funny GIFs and memes
  • Sending group messages with multimedia content
  • Sending business cards or other contact information
  • Sharing presentations or other documents

MMS was once a very popular way to share multimedia content, but it has been somewhat eclipsed by the rise of over-the-top (OTT) messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Telegram. These apps offer similar features to MMS, but they typically have higher message size limits and don’t rely on your cellular data plan.

However, MMS still has some advantages over OTT messaging apps. For example, it doesn’t require both users to have the same app installed, and it works on all types of phones, even older ones that don’t have internet access.
