Apple has finally stepped into the smart home accessory aisle. On 13 October 2026, at its “Welcome Home” event, the company announced Apple Home Collection, a lineup of smart cameras, a video doorbell, a hands-free door lock, thermostats and sensors, designed together with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Prices run from $39.95 to $399.95 (US), and the products start arriving in December 2026.

This guide covers every device, the official US prices, what you need besides the hardware, release dates, and whether any of it is coming to India. All figures come from Apple’s own press releases, cross-checked with major tech outlets.

Apple Home Collection at a glance

  • What it is: A recommended range of smart home accessories co-designed by Apple with LG and Schneider Electric, sold through Apple’s own channels.
  • Price range (US): $39.95 (temperature sensor) to $399.95 (LG Floodlight Cam).
  • Headline products: Four LG cameras (indoor, outdoor, floodlight, video doorbell), the LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, and two smart thermostats.
  • Release: Starts in December 2026; select accessories follow in early 2027.
  • Where: Cameras and doorbell in the US, Canada and UK. Lock, thermostats and sensors in the US and Canada only.
  • Setup: One tap with iPhone, managed entirely in the Apple Home app, with no separate app or account.
  • Camera storage: Included in an iCloud+ plan, so there is no separate camera subscription.

What is Apple Home Collection?

Apple Home Collection is not a set of Apple-branded gadgets. The devices are sold under the LG and Schneider Home names, but Apple was closely involved in design, features and engineering. Apple’s hardware engineering VP Matthew Costello described the aim as helping customers choose smart home accessories with confidence.

The idea is simple. Apple already supported thousands of “Works with Apple Home” and Matter accessories, but quality and setup varied wildly. Home Collection gives buyers a short list of products that behave consistently: tap to set up, one app, end-to-end encryption, and support for Thread so devices stay connected even if Wi-Fi drops.

The collection launched alongside Apple’s new HomeView smart display, HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K (4th generation), which act as the home hubs the accessories rely on.

A note on conflicting prices: a few early reports listed different numbers for the lock and outdoor camera. The figures above are taken from Apple’s official press release dated 13 October 2026. Prices are “starting at” US prices before tax.

Smart cameras and video doorbell

LG makes all four cameras in the lineup. Every one records up to 2.5K resolution and can recognise people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages. Footage is processed locally on your Apple Home hub or in Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, then stored encrypted in iCloud.

LG Indoor Cam Plug-In ($199.95)

The indoor camera’s headline feature is privacy by design. When you check in on your home, it tilts up to show the room. As soon as the first member of the household gets back, it tilts down to stop monitoring. You can also tilt it manually or from the Home app whenever you like.

LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In ($299.95)

A plug-in outdoor camera with low-light colour night vision and an adjustable angle. Apple highlights simple self-installation.

LG Floodlight Cam ($399.95)

The most expensive item in the range adds adaptive dual floodlights that switch on automatically when motion is detected, along with low-light colour night vision for perimeter monitoring.

LG Video Doorbell Wired ($249.95)

The doorbell uses two cameras: a 2.5K front camera for visitors and a full HD camera pointing down to show packages left at your door. It also has a built-in spotlight, and the chime plays through HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini.

Camera features common to all four

  • 10 days of event video history through iCloud+.
  • Built-in storage, so cameras keep recording during a Wi-Fi outage.
  • Apple Intelligence video descriptions and natural-language search on eligible iCloud+ plans (requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad).
  • Live viewing in the Home app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K and HomeView.
  • Apple-only camera ecosystem: according to Engadget, the cameras and doorbell rely on Apple’s local buffering and encrypted upload process, which Matter does not currently support, so they work only with Apple products. The other devices in the collection can be used with other Matter platforms.

Do you need to pay for iCloud+?

There is no camera-specific subscription, but you do need iCloud+ to keep event history. Apple’s fine print says:

iCloud+ planCameras supported
50GB1 camera
200GBUp to 5 cameras
2TBUnlimited cameras

LG Smart Deadbolt Lock: hands-free unlocking ($349.95)

The lock is the most talked-about product in the collection. It uses Ultra Wideband (UWB) to sense how close you are to the door. If you carry a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch with a Home Key, the door unlocks automatically as you walk up, with no tapping required.

Other ways in and security features:

  • Tap to unlock with iPhone or Apple Watch
  • Built-in PIN pad on the exterior
  • Hidden backup key slot (useful if your phone battery dies)
  • Door-state sensing: it detects open, closed and tamper events, and alerts you if the door is open even while locked
  • Guest access shared straight from the Home app, for a dog walker, house sitter or relative
  • Matter compatible and supports Aliro, and it works entirely locally, so core access functions keep working without internet

Front-door system: pair the lock with the LG video doorbell and the Home app shows both in one view. You can see who is there, talk to the visitor and unlock the door, or just ask Siri.

Thermostats and sensors ($199.95 and $39.95)

Buyers get a choice of two smart thermostats, one from LG and one from Schneider Home, so they can pick the one that fits their home’s energy setup. Both cost $199.95.

  • Adaptive Temperature in the Home app uses on-device intelligence from iPhone to adjust heating and cooling depending on whether you are home, winding down at night or away, with no manual schedule.
  • Clean Energy Guidance (contiguous US only) can shift heating and cooling to cleaner, lower-cost periods if your utility plan is compatible.
  • Multi-room readings from the new $39.95 LG and Schneider sensors, or from the sensors inside HomeView, HomePod and HomePod mini.
  • DIY-friendly installation with on-device wire detection. Matter compatible. The thermostats are designed for North American HVAC systems, so availability is limited to the US and Canada.

Setup, Thread and privacy

Setup: bring your iPhone near the accessory, tap, and follow the prompts, much like setting up a HomePod. No extra app, no separate account. Accessories also update their Wi-Fi credentials automatically if you change your router or password.

Thread: every device supports Thread, which helps it stay connected even when Wi-Fi drops.

Privacy: Apple says camera footage and personal data in the Home app are end-to-end encrypted and cannot be accessed by Apple, LG or Schneider Electric. Footage is analysed on your own hub or in Private Cloud Compute, and stored encrypted in iCloud for 10 days for iCloud+ users.

Professional installation: Apple Retail now offers third-party installation by ADT for an additional charge, available in the US from this fall.

What else you need to buy

The accessories need an iPhone running the latest software for NFC pairing and a compatible home hub for additional features: Apple HomeView, HomePod or Apple TV. For AI video descriptions you need a supported hub such as HomeView, HomePod (2nd generation), HomePod mini or Apple TV 4K, plus an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.

HubUS priceAvailability
HomePod mini 2$14930 October 2026
Apple HomeView (tabletop or wall-mounted)$29913 November 2026
Apple TV 4K (4th generation)$29913 November 2026

HomeView has a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and its Home Camera face can show up to nine live camera feeds at once. The wall-mounted model needs a Schneider Home mount, sold separately from $59.95 (US).

Apple Home Collection release dates

  • 13 October 2026: Announcement. Pre-orders open for HomePod mini 2, Apple TV 4K and HomeView.
  • 30 October 2026: HomePod mini 2 available.
  • 13 November 2026: HomeView and Apple TV 4K available.
  • December 2026: Apple Home Collection starts arriving at apple.com/store, in the Apple Store app and at Apple Store locations.
  • Early 2027: Select Home Collection accessories arrive. Apple has not said which ones, and no pre-order date has been given for the collection.

Is Apple Home Collection coming to India?

As of 14 October 2026, Apple has not listed India for any Apple Home Collection product. Apple’s press release names only the US and Canada, plus the UK for the cameras and doorbell. Indian buyers should not expect the lock, cameras or thermostats at launch.

The hub side is different. Apple says customers in India can pre-order HomeView from 13 October, with availability from 13 November, and Siri AI on HomeView supports English in India. HomePod mini 2 is also due to get Siri AI in English in India through a future update. I could not find confirmed rupee pricing for the new devices in the sources I checked, so check the Apple India Store for current MRPs. Note that Apple’s India prices for existing HomePod and Apple TV models have also been revised recently, according to reports, so US dollar conversions are unreliable.

The Matter-certified and “Works with Apple Home” accessories already on sale in India remain the practical route for now.

Who should buy Apple Home Collection?

Good fit if you:

  • Already live in the Apple ecosystem and want devices that set up in one tap
  • Want camera storage without a separate camera subscription (you pay for iCloud+ instead)
  • Care about privacy and end-to-end encrypted footage
  • Like the idea of a lock that opens as you walk up

Think twice if you:

  • Use Android or mainly Google or Alexa ecosystems (the cameras and doorbell are Apple-only)
  • Need the lock or thermostat outside the US and Canada
  • Do not want to buy an additional hub, since the accessories need HomeView, HomePod or Apple TV
  • Want the cheapest option, because $199.95 to $399.95 camera pricing sits at the premium end

Final take

Apple Home Collection is less about new hardware ideas and more about removing smart home friction: one-tap setup, one app, encrypted footage and no camera subscription beyond iCloud+. The UWB lock is the standout, the cameras are competitively specced at 2.5K, and the thermostats finally give Apple Home an easy recommended option. The trade-offs are premium pricing, a hub requirement, and limited regions. If you are in the US, Canada or UK and already use iPhone, December is the month to watch.
